Sapienza University of Rome will host the International Workshop on “The Green Shift in the Global Economy: Global Value Chains, Innovation and Policies” on September 8-9, 2025. The event is organized in collaboration with Bocconi University, Catholic University of Milan, University of Pavia, and University of Pisa with support from the Italian Ministry of University and Research and the European Union – Next Generation EU within the PRIN 2022 program.1
The workshop aims at fostering discussion on the challenges, risks and opportunities of the green and digital transitions in an increasingly uncertain global landscape. Recent geopolitical tensions, climate change, and shifts in trade policies are reshaping international production networks, the role of multinational firms, and the diffusion of green technologies. Understanding how these dynamics influence firms, regions, and policy responses is crucial to navigate the twin transitions effectively.
Both empirical and theoretical contributions on the interplay between Globalization, Innovation and Environment are welcome. Topics of special interest include:
- The role of International Trade and Multinationals for the Green Transition
- International Knowledge Flows and Green Innovation in Global Supply Chains
- The Twin Transitions in a Global Context: Determinants and Effects
- The Role of Policies and Regulations in driving Green and Digital Transitions
1 The workshop is organized under the PRIN 2022 projects: ‘Multinationals and the green transition of host countries’ (CUP B53D23010080006) and ‘Knowledge flows across the borders for the green digital transition’ (CUP F53D23009410001), PNRR –
