Claudio Fassio is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Department of Political Science of the University of Pisa since 2022. Previously he was associate professor at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Lund, Sweden. Since 2015 Claudio is affiliated to the research institute CIRCLE (centre for innovation studies) in Lund, Sweden. Claudio has worked also at LUISS university in Rome and at the University of Torino, where he earned his Ph.D.
Claudio has also experience in policy-related work: between 2018 and 2021 he managed the project “ Sweden’s position in global value chains” funded by the Swedish innovation agency Vinnova, involving more than 10 researchers in different universities in Sweden.
Claudio’s research interests focus around three main topics, all related to the international dimension of economic activities: the interplay between internationalization and innovation strategies at the firm level, the international careers of skilled individuals and their impact on firms’ innovation outcomes and the collaborations between academic researchers and industrial inventors, especially when these collaborations are international.
Claudio’s research has been published in several peer-reviewed academic journals such as Research Policy, The Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, The Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of World Business, Industrial and Corporate Change, Industry and Innovation and several others.
